Everyday Conspiracies, SXSW

Alex Jones rattled off some sound bites for IFC yesterday at SXSW in Austin.

The symbols of the bill and the tech of the iPhone also have really positive interpretations/uses, and I believe we can dump the fluoridated bathwater and save the baby in both cases.  On the flip side, the teddy bear was named after Teddy Roosevelt, who helped get the ball of American imperialism rolling in the Philippines and Cuba.

In his Third Annual Message to Congress on Dec. 7, 1903 (38 years before the Pearl Harbor event his 5th cousin helped orchestrate) Teddy riffed on Hermes Trismegistus, saying, “No man is above the law and no man is below it; nor do we ask any man’s permission when we require him to obey it.”

IFC is also producing a documentary called The New World Order, which looks to have a heavy Jones component.

Local and kinda local acts at SXSW include Emily Rodgers, the Cynics, Kim Phuc, Philadelphyinz, and Steve Goldberg and the Arch Enemies.

If you’re into simple singer-songwriter stuff, you can hear Rodgers’ song “In Spring Alchemy” in which she sings, “I was destroyed by fire and rebuilt in 1999,” at her TheirSpace.  Steve Goldberg and the Arch Enemies is tamely trippy orchestral pop.   You can hear their 2007 album here and a nice one called “The Garden of Forking Paths” at their TheirSpace.
