And I can’t seek a lot

Any canine will do

- Anslem Douglas, “Who Let the Dogs Out?”

This delightful editorial slip-up from the Sept. 25 issue of Nature reeks of Mercurial trickery to this puppy’s snout.  Mercury, which entered its retrograde phase in Libra on Sept. 24 and hit its direct station yesterday, Oct. 15, was recently photographed by NASA’s MESSENGER probe.  Back in January, MESSENGER sent back the first images from Mercury’s “previously unseen side” much as Nature’s editorial staff supposedly didn’t see the back cover ad until the issue had already gone to print.

I’m still picking stray bits of doggerel out of my pelt following accidental exposure to last night’s debate, but this slice of isomorphic hilarity perked me up and made my morning.  Thanks, John Allen!
